The Minston Republics (/ˈmɪn.stən/), commonly known as Minston, and sometimes the Republics, is a sovereign nation located on the continent of Minstos made up of 15 republics, consisting of 116 provinces in all. It is surrounded to the east by the Ithis Ocean and to the west by the Anoic Ocean. The 91 contiguous provinces take the entire continent of Minstos under 12 republics. Another 14 contiguous provinces are in northern Norvein under the Kalrado Republic, and 9 contiguous provinces in Ilthin make up the Baron Republic. The Alkyon Republic is an archipelago in the western Ithis Ocean and a small province on the coast of eastern Arthane, surrounded by Aryiss.
The Minston Republics were formed in 1016 from its predecessor Minstonia and the Illiat Republics. Throughout the Continental Wars, it continued to spread its power throughout the entire Minstos continent, until obtaining full control in 1472. The current government of Minston was created after the Minstonian Civil War in which rebellions originating from Pauria and Warjan spread throughout the continent and took control of Doveres, giving representation to each of the republics.
Minston has been a major world power since the mid-300s, becoming the largest world power in the 1400s, a title it continues to hold to present day.
History
Ancient and Classical periods
By 700BD, the Amsonittes of the Amsonian Empire had controlled much of the ancient interior.
Reconstruction
After the Fall, the Minstos continent collapsed into many smaller nations and city states. The only countries that retained some of their power being Aeton, Paur, and Aphica. This was the start of the the new political landscape of Minstos where the new Great Powers were born from the ashes of the classical Great Powers.
High Ages
Unification
Annexation of the Illiat Republics
The 11th century was a time for global economic expansion with Minstonia beginning to take the top position in world affairs. With Pauria in the north beginning to return to a militaristic state, the Illiat Republics realized that they would try to retrieve the provinces that the Illiat had added to the Republics centuries before.
In 1003ad, the Illiat Republics appealed to Minstonia requesting protection from the Paurians by annexing them. Minstonia agreed only on the condition that the majority of the Illiat forces would help the Vichsti invade Torrovn so Minstonia could indirectly become involved in the conflict without declaring war.
The North-Minston War of Torrovian Eradication ended in 1014 with Torrovn being split between Illiat and Vichsti. The next two years consisted of Minstonia and Illiat working on an integration agreement which concluded successfully. By 1016ad, Minstonia was now four times the size it was only 200 years prior.
Problems in Norvein
In a hope to gain more land for themselves, Terruban and the colonists in Minstonian colonies who wanted to be independent fought against Minstonia to grab more land for themselves.
Continental Wars
The Continental War era began at the start of the Minston-Torrovn War where the last secondary powers were absorbed. This began a period that lasted between the 10th and 14th centuries in which the remaining great powers and their client states fought over control over the continent. Natel declares independence from Aeton, Pauria sides with Aeton. Warjan acts aggressively towards other great powers, dictator rises to power, both the Interior and Exterior alliances fight to contain Warjan and arguing with each other to install a new government friendly toward their own respective alliance.
Tension rises between Pauria and Minston and breaks out in a small territorial conflict, but is quickly resolved.he Exterior Alliance begins to grow in strength, worrying the Interior Alliance leading to a war to declare dominance over the continent on the Exterior Alliance. This leads to Warjan being split between Minston and Vichsti, Creote being released, Aeton being split between Natel and Vichsti, Vichsti obtaining the remaining Merchant Republics, and Minston obtaining amounts of Paurian territory. Pauria in a last stand against Minston declares war in an attempt to regain its land and pride, loses horrifically, converted into territories.
Industrialization
Tatfly
A mosquito-like fly originally native only to South Ilthin. After colonization of South Ilthin in the 100s BD, several Tatflies made their way to Minstos on board ships and thrived on the continent. At the time, they were just a pest, but as the industrial revolution began to roll in a millennium and a half later, Tatflies began carrying a terrible disease, the Red Tat. The reason for the name was when an infected Tatfly bit you, it left a red rash-like mark, or a tattoo. Before they began infecting people, they were known as Knips. The infection led to a harsh rash, cough, fever, and fluid buildup in the lungs. This eventually led to people drowning in their own fluids. The Tatfly enjoys warm climates and would often occupy factories, contributing as a large cause of death for factory workers. People began setting up nets to prevent them from entering buildings and inventing electrical devices to kill them. From 1557-1564, the Red Tat was the leading cause of death. In the late 1500s to the early 1600s, a program was started by the Minston government to eliminate the Tatfly from Minstos. The disease infected Tatflies were eliminated by the late 1650s and the species was removed by the 1710s.
Civil War
In 1548, two rebel groups representing Vichsti and Warjan gained control of south and eastern Minstos and seceded from the Minston Republics forming two nations. The Republics did not recognize this independence and went in to defeat the rebel uprising. The rebel support grew with rebels rising in Pauria, leading to an all out assault by the rebel factions on the central government in Doveres. The surrender of the Minston government led to the signing of a treaty stating that the countries would rejoin Minston, but each Republic would have representation and more autonomy.
Grand War
Post war and space age
After the end of the Grand War in 1632, the Minston Republics underwent an unprecedented amount of growth, some due to the reconstruction of the republics of Kalrado, Baron, Varia, and Minston. The construction of the Interway created the ease of transportation that would allow for quicker movement of goods throughout the contiguous republics, allowing for the growth of sprawling residential districts further away from the center of cities.
In 1646, the colonies of southern Norvein requested independence from Minston. When denied, the colonies stopped shipping resources to continental Minston and began selling them to nations in the Anoic Pact and Arthane Agreement. This caused Minston to send in the military, which fought against the rebels until 1651, when the Minston Republics gave in and started diplomatic talks. The conditions would be that the several regions of southern Norvein would become independent (Briconta, Corro-Rokko, Goddrine, Jonpe, Sontirri, and Zanziet) in exchange for the ability to continue commercial operations in the region and certain trade agreements along with allowing Minston to lease land, that would be active for the next 50 years. After those 50 years, in 1701 the nations, along with Tamos and Tektala, formed the League of the South.
Nuclear Technology
When nuclear technology was discovered, Minston and Tinyiel performed an atom-bomb test in southern Norvein, in Minston-leased Kordiat desert. After seeing what devastation it could cause, every country signed the Atom Offence Treaty, agreeing that it would never be used for militaristic uses. The nuclear test took place in May, 1677 and the treaty was signed three months later.

Ancient times, people saw Ro, slight bits of Christianity remained. Heaven equated to Ro as lush Garden of Eden type planet. When telescopes invented, but still expensive, people could see the large cities, people saw the planet with vast cities. Now in religion, towers that went past the clouds were scattered across Heaven that souls could walk atop and peer at Raythe from powerful lenses. After the fall of Ro and the immediate panic below on Raythe, telescopes eventually became less expensive that more people could purchase them. By that time, they only saw the wasteland that Heaven had now become. This caused for a split of religion. Some believed that a war had occurred in the kingdom between the gods on Ro and the daemons on the moon. Others believed that the ancient scholars had lied or deceived them, and others believed that Heaven never existed on Ro.
While living a life of good will send you to the paradise, if you live a sinful life you will be sent to Deaum. On Deaum, everyone wears a mask of clay that must be scratched off with your hands. The more sinful your life, the thicker and more distorted looking the mask will be. Once your mask has been chipped away over millennia, you will be able to ascend to Ro where you will spend eternity as a servant for those without sin.
As a result, when it came to the first manned mission to Deaum, the first few steps were hesitant.
Government and politics
The government is composed of two divisions:
- The Council: A council of thirteen representitives, each representing a republic.
- The Theatre: A large group of people representing republics. The amount of representatives are based on population.

How election works is that each party has a primary where it chooses who will run as head of the party. Then, the party enters the general election where people vote for a political party to try to win for their province. Winner takes all for the province. Then the winner of each province is added up and the majority wins the Republic, where the party will then gain control of that republics seats in the Council and Theatre. Then the party with the most amount of seats in the Theatre wins and the party leader will take the role as Prime Senator.
National ID
Since the 1400s, Minston has been using a national ID system. At first, it was just a set of documents that could easily be forged. Over a few hundred years, it became more and more refined and harder to forge and became a reliant way to identify persons. Your ID could be used to access your National Bank Account. By the mid-late 1600s, the NID could be swiped and could be used to get money at an ATM, pay at a store, or even pay a ticket while pulled over. Around the late 1700s, paper money is becoming obsolete in Minston. Many other countries still use paper money because they have privately owned banks instead of one central government owned bank.
Minston Intelligence Service (MIS)
Military
Minston's military is made up of the Minston Federal Army, Minston Federal Navy, the Minston Federal Air Force, and the Minston Domestic Guard. Every male citizen is conscripted into the military at age 17 and is required to serve for 24 months. Minston allocates 4.2% of its GDP on its military, the largest amount out of any other country.
Ethics
The Grand War introduced a new types of warfare unseen to Raythe before, biological and chemical. Biological and chemical warfare are seen as powerful tools and although some feel it is unethical, to this day there is no real restraint put onto it. Due to the ban on nuclear weapons, due to their destructive nature, there is no real threat of MAD by world powers waging war & larger wars are still common.
Economy
The Minston Mark (‡) is the world's primary reserve currency. The Mark was based from the ancient Minn currency system of nics and marks on stone tablets. One major company based in Minston is VoxCorp. Major trade association is the International Trade Association (ITA), a multinational alliance of corporations working together to strengthen themselves.

Infrastructure
In the 800s BD, the Warjan government began to construct the Silver Trade Roads in order to create an easier flow of trade that they could control using a network of cobble-paved roads. Over the next several hundred years, the Silver Trade Roads were expanded into a continent wide network of road systems flourishing with trade. It was in the 1100s when the Silver Trade Roads gained the nickname the 'Continental Web'.
By the 1500s, the Silver Trade Roads began to go into a serious state of disrepair due to the increase in traffic by new technologies and industries. In the 1590s, a revitalization of the roadways was planned, but lacked necessary funding and was put to a halt during the Grand War. The poor road systems during the war put a stress on the transfer of resources throughout the country and debates were held on whether or not to divert funding to the roads, but the consensus was that the funding was needed elsewhere.
After the Grand War, industry was thriving in Minston, but the road infrastructure was still poor. Prime Senator Coppenbauld introduced the 'Interway and General Infrastructure Act of 1630' in February, and although criticisms arouse of the practicability of the Interway, the Grand War showed that in the modern era, an up to date road system was needed, and the Theatre passed the bill in April. Construction of the new roads, rail lines, air docks, and the Interway created thousands of jobs for the Minston people. The Interway was a large road that would follow the path of the Silver Trade Roads without stopping through towns and cities, allowing for long distance travel to become much faster.
The National Pneumatic System (NPS) was created to send mail across Minston at fast speeds.
Science and technology
Minston has been a leader in scientific research and technological innovation since the 14th century. In the 1690s the Aerospace Administration of the Ithis Community (AAIC), a joint effort between Minston and Tinyiel, allowed for the launch of satellites and man into the void. In the 1700s, Minston launched an expedition to Ro where they discovered the ruins and remains of Argillian civilization.
In the 1750s, Raythe intervention of the Geant-Arica War began where Minston, the CPSP, and the AP supported Arica while the AN, AA, and LoS supported Geant, turning the tide to an Arican victory. The aftermath of the war in the 1760s and 1770s with left behind Minston weapons on Arica allowed for a police state to rise, while on Geant, the loss of the war caused a complete collapse of government allowing for warlords to take over. In the 1770s, the use of long-range radio allowed for contact between Minston and the Yankee Kingdom, bringing together Raythe and Earth for the first time in millennia.
Radio technology was first developed in 1621 and was a popular form of entertainment known as a Radioner, until 1637, when a new model of radio came out, this time with a video screen. it was a radio-tv hybrid. When you tuned into a frequency, the audio and video of the show would appear. Some stations, such as all music stations, did not update to this new format, and instead had a still image representing the station, or no image at all.
Around the 1710s, early computer technology was being developed. At first, they had large room sized computers like us, but when it got to the age of Home Computers in the 1760s, they became integrated with the Radioner. The table model of the Radioner added a switch that toggles between the tv-radio mode and the computer mode. In the 1770s, computers with GUIs were introduced with a trackball attached to the keyboard. They were later changed into a mouse like device in the late 1770s. Even though there are the mixed-medium sized models, by the 1660s, there are large and small models that more focus on the TV and radio functionality. By 1780, AoraNet was widely available.
Health
The Minston Republics have an average life expectancy of 79.8 years at birth, ranking it 5th among 37 countries in 1770. With the invention of antibiotics in the late 1760s, Minston has been trying to catch up with the medicinal efficiency of Duriam, the birthplace of antibiotics. From the mid-16th century to the mid-17th century, the Red Tat was a major disease that killed millions, and was the first disease to be completely eradicated through extreme extermination policies of the Minstonian Tatfly. While the Minstonian Tatfly is functionally extinct, being kept only in labs, a vaccine is close to completion[1] that would remove any danger if the Red Tat were to return.
